ABOUT SANTORINI WALL PAINTINGS
The areas destined to the decorated with wall paintings were in
two categories of buildings: private houses and public edifeces.
In the private houses , identified by their relatively small dimensions
and their internal organization and equipment, all the rooms with
wall paintings were in the uper storey. This is explained by the
fact the ground floor areas were designed to accommodate other activities
and basic needs: storage and preparation of food, etc.
Public edificies can be recognized on account of their impressive
size, internal arrangment and the virtual absence of domestic objects
from their equipment.
